Great news for our island – we now have a mental health professional attending our Medical Clinic on a regular basis. The Southern Gulf Islands Mental Health and Substance Use Services is sending a counsellor to Saturna Island to provide short-term counselling and assessment services to adults with mental health and/or addictions concerns.  As part of the Continuum of Care provided by Island Health, all services are FREE OF CHARGE.  Jon Schwabach, Ph.D., a counsellor from Salt Spring, will be coming to Saturna on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.  Services are by appointment and provided at the Medical Clinic, although home visits can be arranged if necessary.  Referrals can be made through your doctor or nurse practitioner, or directly by calling (250) 538-4849.
